To Whom it may concern,

I retired in July 2009 and continued my Cobra insurance until October 2010. In the meantime, I sought information and counsel on a Medicare Supplement from a friend who was an insurance broker and investment counselor. He no longer offered this line of insurance and referred me to Ms. Catherine Snowman. He gave her very high marks and said I would be well served by her advice. That was quite an understatement.

I did some research on my own and got the usual general answers but could not get a sufficient level of comfort to move forward. I have some health insurance knowledge but not enough to make the right decision on a Medicare Supplement. I contacted Ms. Snowman and began to ask questions via email. Her answers were prompt and detailed; and were informative and encouraging. I realized early on she knew what she was talking about.

We made an appointment, and she came to visit my wife and me; a housecall no less. She was not the typical insurance agent who is out to sell a policy. She arrived at our home, set up her laptop computer and we began the task of finding a plan suitable for us. It was not an easy task. My wife had some preexisting medical conditions which made a preapproval necessary before I would let the Cobra insurance lapse. I could not afford to have her uninsured. We looked at a number of plans before we determined which one was suitable for us.

Catherine got on the Internet and began the preapproval process. I wanted written confirmation before making a commitment. She worked diligently with the various entities involved and secured an email confirmation of my wife’s acceptance and approval. With that assurance, we began the enrollment process. It took several hours to enroll. At the end of that time, we were fully enrolled with confirmation of our coverage. I was sure we had made the right decisions.

Catherine is very courteous and professional, a genuine expert in her field. Not once did she push any particular product or plan. She came to help us through this maze of regulations and options; and did not stop until she was sure that we were secure in our decision. She was pleasure to work with during this often tedious and complicated process.

I’m writing this as a recommendation to all that have insurance needs to seriously consider Catherine Snowman as your representative. Note that I said representative, not agent, as I felt that she was much more than an agent trying to sell insurance, but someone that was concerned about her client’s needs.

Referred to me by a friend that is in the property casualty insurance field, at the time I needed coverage for both my wife and me. This was back in the days when health insurance was medically underwritten, not the Affordable Care Act plans of today. We had been covered under COBRA and it was running out soon. Catherine was extremely helpful and after finding out that my wife is in great health, but mine wasn’t, she tried to get us covered with numerous companies. Unfortunately, all but one denied us due to my issues. They were basically saying that they would take our money but wouldn’t pay for anything unless I was involved in an accident.

Catherine then told me about a plan that was government sponsored, designed for those with pre-existing conditions. She wasn’t affiliated with it, but she gave me the contact information and highly recommended that I go that route, which I ultimately did. My wife could be written with standard coverage and Catherine helped us chose the best plan that fit her needs. After having Catherine as her agent for over a year, my wife experienced an extremely high rate increase and due to the introduction of the Affordable Care Act, preexisting conditions were no longer a factor. Unfortunately, Catherine wasn’t associated with one company who’s plan would serve the needs of my wife, but she graciously recommended another agent that could help us in our search.

As I noted earlier, Catherine again was looking out for our best interests, not simply trying to sell us a policy, exactly what we were looking for in an agent/representative. We did return to Catherine as we were not satisfied with the service we received from the other agent. Since then, we both have consulted with her and she placed in some Medicare benefits that provide us with peace of mind.
